A waterproof flag armband made for the Invasion of North Africa, “TORCH.”
This is the first main issued U.S. flag armband issued to troops for the Invasion of North Africa, code name, “TORCH.” These were also used during the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. There is also another version used by Military Police of the Allied Expeditionary Forces, where the armband was flipped over and the reverse side was stamped with the above information, and the flag was stamped over with black lines.
The armband has a rubberized feel to it, probably made of thin canvas with the printed US flag. It measures 4 inches by 16 and one half inches, and has stamped holes for proper adjustment. Two original issue safety pins are still present.
Condition is overall very fine with some light soiling and creasing.
