First of all, Jean and I want to thank all of our friends and customers for looking at our online shop; without you there is no point doing what we do.

James Mountain Antiques has been a full time business since 1983, discovering, then offering all manner of historical material both from America and from abroad.  Over the years, we have handled a wide variety of antiques, with a focus on military history, a subject that stems from my being the son of a career army officer. My wife Jean joined me full time in the early 90’s,  and who’s help has made this business far more fun, and organized!

If you had not noticed, I changed this introduction just recently, as I felt it too stuffy.  What do you care what organizations I belong to?  What you want to know, or need to know, is simply…..what you’re buying or looking at is the REAL deal. What history does the item have, and is it worth that?   If you have a question ask it.  If you can’t find it, we’ll look for it. If you want to know what it’s worth, we’ll share that with you as well. We believe an informed, educated buyer, makes for the best long term customer.

We have maintained great relationships with customers who became friends, depositing with them wonderful objects, that in many cases we have had the great fortune to re-purchase, or at least visit occasionally when viewing their collections that we assisted in building.  You can’t achieve that unless the purchased object was honest in the first place. That’s why we give a life time guarantee on all items we sell. We’ll never regret owning it again.  You might say we are depositors of historical assets.

I want to get wordy on the material we sell.  We love history. To know your history is to know your present and more importantly, your future. If you don’t believe that history repeats itself, then take a visual walk through this site. Nothing really ever changes, just technology perhaps. Hopefully, we can take you briefly where your mind has never been before; make you contemplate your world through the items and events offered here that have as much relevance now as in the past.

As collectors (the inner persons we fight as dealers), we have the desire to own historical items, or beautiful objects of art which allows us to have that personal connection with the past, or simply gaze upon for the sheer pleasure it returns. With a collection, a puzzle’s pieces begin to realign; add research, and a clearer picture begins to form. When the connection with the past takes hold, you understand your initial desire to collect, and suddenly you find that what was once an investment in your financial future, your portfolio, has exponentially risen in intrinsic value to have and to share.

Finally, we want you to enjoy your visit. Come back and stay as long as you want. If you see a mistake, or an omission, please let us know, as we have already graciously corrected our errors brought to our attention from several visitors.  Getting it right is what’s important. We recognize there is only one infallible source, who we rely upon daily, and we dedicate this site to GOD our Father and Christ our Lord, apart from whom we lack proper direction.
