Geary served in the Mexican and Civil Wars, for a short time was governor of Kansas in 1856 and resigned after one year. During the Civil War, he commanded the 2nd Division of the 12th Corps at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, and later transferred to the Army of the Cumberland, and afterward was part of Sherman’s March to the Sea. He was wounded several timed during the war. After the war was elected Governor of Pennsylnania in 1869, and died in his second term in 1873. Brief history of him accompanies the image.
The image light discoloration to the paper over the image, as well as the clipped corners, but overall a clear image.
