No photographer back mark, but a nice image of a well armed officer.

Description
CDV – Unidentified Officer of the 8th Massachusetts Infantry.
This unidentified officer of the 8th Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, came from a grouping of images all belonging to this regiment. The fact that he has his forage cap beside him with the MVM in wreath, would suggest this officer was in one of the early state regiments. He most likely was already enrolled in a militia unit as he is wearing his Antebellum helmet pommel sword, and sword belt with early two piece oval plate. Note the side hammer revolver looks to be an Allen & Wheelock revolver tucked into the belt.
Trusting the source, Ex Gil Barrett Collection, I am maintaining he is in the 8th Mass.
Very good condition, without back mark.
