Choice copper plate engraved advertising label for Andrew Gray’s – Boot & Shoe Store, Brooklyn, NY. This is a pre Civil War engraved label on medium blue paper. The period for this piece is between 1838 -1845 (engravers were Woodcock & Harvey at 50 Fulton St. Brooklyn, as seen on the label).
The uniforms on the soldier and fireman bear this out as to the range of dates for the engravers.
High quality workmanship. This maker is no listed in the DIRECTORY OF AMERICAN MILITARY GOODS DEALERS AND MAKERS, by Bazelon & McGuinn.
