Field Artillery Officer’s Collar Insignia – 1902 Pattern – SOLD

Field Artillery Officer’s Collar Insignia – 1902 Pattern.

More akin to the 1895 pattern in shape, is this 1902-05 field artillery officer’s collar insignia, with a less stubby type crossed cannons.  Made of heavy stamped brass with false embroidery and an applied gilt brass/ red enameled wheel. Obviously with the addition of the wheel, it is most likely that the manufacturer used old pattern stock. Some varieties of the 1895 pattern used this applied center piece for regimental numerals. The subdued or bronze finish was worn on the field service uniform with sew-on loops.

40mm

Fine- excellent condition with minute wear.

A very scarce insignia.
