CDV Of 2nd Lieutenant James J. Reeves 24th New Jersey Volunteers, Photographed by F. GUTEKUNST, PHILADA.
Signed, “Yours Sincerely / Jas. J. Reeves.” Also hand tinting done on cheeks, sword sash, buttons, buckle, sword hilt, shoulder straps, and cap insignia.
Reeves enlisted on Sept. 3, 1862, as a 2nd Lieutenant, into Company “H.” He mustered out on June 29, 1863, having seen combat in the battles of Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
