Description
This original Hardee Hat was never embellished to wear in full dress fashion, as the only insignia applied is an infantry wool worsted hat cord. This appears to be an unissued hat. It maintains the stiff black paper stiffener in the crown, with stamped gold maker’s eagle mark, No. “3.” The sweatband shows little wear, as does the entire interior. The exterior of the crown has been fashioned with a slight crease fore and aft. The upper body still remains quite stiff. Overall an even wear, and only a few minor age stains in a few places only. The silk banding is intact but has areas of fraying. An extremely fine Hardee, with a great “undressed “ look. SOLD
