This grouping of badges belonged to 2nd Lieutenant Henry G. Morey of Co. D, 49th Massachusetts Infantry, who enlisted on August of 1862 until April of 63. He held the rank of sergeant and lieutenants rank. The 49th was organized at Pittsfield, Mass with William Francis Bartlett as colonel; mustering in 9/1/62 for 9th months service. Attached to the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 19th Army Corps, Department of the Gulf.
The group consists of the 49th Veterans badge with 19th corps badge on ribbon and a bust of Colonel Bartlett on medal; G.A.R. past post commanders membership badge; 1911 Souvenir badge from Rochester, New York; A guest badge for 50th Anniversary of 37th and 49th Mass Regiments at Pittsfield, Ma., Sept. 1912; 24th National Encampment Boston souvenir badge (ribbon torn at top); G.A.R. cap badge, and cutdown Real photo post card of Morey in G.A.R. uniform, his 49th Mass badge, wartime sword and sword sash. The reverse side has been addressed to Mrs. Morey to an address in Conn.
The condition overall is very good and better in most cases. A great group to have all together.
