$25.00

1857 Order To Appear For Drill – Mechanic Rifles, Providence, R.I.  A small slip of printed paper,  3 x 7 inches, was sent out to this militia unit dated July 7, 1857, to appear in full uniform for drill at the Armory on Page St., Providence. By order of Commandant.  This is a blank form.

On the back is the name of 3rd Corpl S.A. Winchester.  If the same person (who was from Providence), was named enlisting in the below 1st Regt. then this man was Sgt. Silas A. Winchester.

A fine conditioned piece, documenting the existence of this Rhode Island militia unit just prior to the Civil War.
