Description

1890 – 1896 Pattern Medical Officer’s Shoulder Straps.

A scarce pair of insignia for a State Militia (NG) Medical Department used from 1890 to 1896.   The gold bullion shield and 1st lieutenant’s rank are directly embroidered to the white wool backgrounds. The Regular Army used this insignia as well replacing the “MD”, but continued to use the black (staff corps) background.

4 inches approximate length.

Some soiling and toning to bullion, but very good – fine overall on these scarce insignia.
