Wonderful bullion workmanship!
This is a example offered by JACOB REED SONS, PHILADELPHIA, of a general officer’s full dress cap made in the 1920’s. The blue wool body is free of mothing, and the rich gold bullion is lavishly applied to the black velvet banding around the base of the cap and on the leather visor. The eagle is well proportioned with that three dimensional look. All the bullion has a pleasing, even toning overall. There are only a few small areas were some bullion threads have unraveled, but nearly invisible unless you really want to get close to find them.
The lining is fine with all the silk in excellent condition, the leather sweatband is excellent, and showing light use. The protective plastic shielding in the crown has dried and flaked away leaving the traces clinging to the perimeter threads.
A great addition to any headgear collection.
