19th Century German Made Buffalo Hide Scale

19th Century German Made Buffalo Hide Scale. Made of iron and brass, and intended to measure the weight of hides, but also furs, meats, hay and cotton bales.

This scale is not maker marked, but finely crafted.  Could weight up to 40 kilos or 350 pounds.

A necessary tool for buffalo skinners, and frontiersman’s measuring their hides.  11 inches in height.

Used mid or earlier 19th Century.
