This marksman badge in bronze was made by THE HAYES BROTHERS CO., NEWARK, N.J., and was purchased by state national guards. The pin (or bar) is marked on the back by the maker.
It is the same size and extremely alike to the Rock Island Arsenal pattern, with only the background around the letters being a bit different in style.
Box and pin are fine ++.
You don’t see many of these boxed state contract pieces.
