WWI American 54th Artillery Brigade Staff Armband.
Size is approx. 15″ long x 3-3/4″ wide of the armband.
The end fastening material is approx. 2-1/4″ l x 1″wide. Condition of the fastening piece is showing wear and some thread loss (see photo details).
French made silk armband, with bullion artillery insignia, and bordered top and bottom with double bullion tape.
The armband is in very good condition, showing wear at the center crease where it had been folded for years, and some tearing at the silk tongue area. A few small moth nips.
These are hard to come by; worn by staff officers to allow them entrance to headquarters as well as identifying them as to unit/branch. They were worn on the left sleeve midway between shoulder and elbow.
