Description

British Brodie Helmet Issued To 26th “Yankee” Division HQ Doughboy.  This is a rimmed Brodie (British made) helmet with full liner and chinstrap. Painted in blue, is the YD symbol used by the 26th Division in WWI.  Most of the Yankee Division helmets are seen with each of the different units insignia painted on.  I believe this is for a soldier attached to Headquarters, or just a real early version being first issue British made.

Typical wear, with some mothing to the interior padding in the crown; leather chinstrap shows wear but strongly intact. Sand painted finish worn as well with good remnants above rim and lower sides all around.

A nice example for a helmet from the first American division to arrive in France in WWI.
