Description
Camp Endicott Training Center – Hitler-Hess- Goering 1944. Training book for Camp Endicott Naval Training Center, Davisville, Rhode Island, 1944. A book format produced for many training classes that went through the facility, but his particular class contained Adolf Hitler’s nephew William P. Hitler, who had just received permission to enlist in the US Navy, having gone through some trouble attempting to do so due to his relationship the the Nazi Fuhrer.
Included in William Hitler’s “Work Detail” are two other trainees with other very familiar German sounding names photographed and placed together in this book; Ernest M. Goering, MoMM/1c and Daniel E. Hess, S/2c. Whether or not these two men had relations with their German Nazi Party name sakes is not known (for you to research). Rather interesting that these three are clumped together.
William Hitler, was sworn in on March 6, 1944 and served in the Navy as a pharmacist’s mate, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received during the war. He served 3 years.
His father was a half brother to Adolf. William, Born in Liverpool, England in 1911, met with the then Chancellor of Germany, Uncle Adolf in 1933, and decided to leave Germany after an angry meeting. He moved to the US., being sponsored by William Randolph Hearst, going on lecture tours speaking about his views on the Nazi regime.
