CDV – Captain John Ferguson Royal Irish Fusiliers was at this time of photograph was an ensign in the regiment. A fine image of Captain Ferguson in dress uniform, holding sword, and shako on the chair beside him. Photograph taken by Jones, Devon, England. Signed on the reverse, “Your affectionate brother / John Ferguson / Newtown limavady, 1st April, 1866. Newtown Limavady was a town in Northern Ireland.
He is wearing both the Queen South Africa and 2nd China medals. He must have been in the ranks at the time of receiving the South Africa medal.
