CDV- Captain Thomas S. Doebler, 14th U.S. Infantry, Signed

This CDV is signed by “Captain Thomas S. Doebler, USA.” The image was taken of him in retirement while in Richmond, Va in 1868, by C.R. Rees, and Co., Richmond. Doebler is wearing civilian attire.

He enlisted as a private in May of 1861 into Co. “E” 14th U.S. Infantry, and promoted within the regiment to 2nd Lt. on June 30, 1862, 1st Lt. in July of 1863 and captain by brevet for action at Snickers Gap, Va., 3/13. 1865. Doebler retired in February of 1865.

He was born in Pennsylvania.

Condition is fine, with very light staining.
