James Lowry Donaldson, USMA Class of 1836. Seminole and Mexican Wars service where he received a promotion for gallantry in action, and in the Frontier in Kansas before the war. Donaldson served in the western theater of the war and at Nashville, organized his department into a fighting unit. Breveted as both brigadier and major general of volunteers.
