CDV – Signed By Surgeon George Henry Webster Herrick, 1st U.S. Vol. Infantry- “Galvanized Yankees.” Found very little on Dr. Herrick, but know he enlisted in April of 1864 as an Assistant Surgeon, commissioned into the medical staff of the 1st U.S. Volunteer Infantry (Galvanized Yankees or Confederates), and later mustered out at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in November, 1865.
He died on July 21, 1877 in London, England. (Civilwardata).
His image is signed on the mount,” Yours truly, Geo. H. W. Herrick, Surg. 1st U.S. Vol Inf.”
Photographed by R. Stevenson & Co. Leavenworth, Kansas (obviously taken at the time of mustering out). I can’t provide any information about the writing, “Johnnathan 1863.” Cancelled 3 cent Revenue stamp.
I would think a rare image.
