General Orders No 14 War Department -Permanency of Fort Scott, Kansas.
War Department order dated January 10, 1863, re-establishing the military post in Kansas known as Fort Scott, announced as a permanent post, by order of Adjutant General Lorenzo Thomas.
Fort Scott, Kansas was one of the few forts in operation in that state, which was used as a recruiting and training center, as well as a supple base for operations in Missouri, Arkansas, and Indian Territory (later Oklahoma).
Fine condition, with one small stain at bottom.
