History of the 317th Infantry 80th Division by Edley Graighill

$90.00

History of the 317th Infantry 80th Division by Edley Graighill.  Edley Graighill was a 1st lieutenant and adjutant of the 2nd Battalion.  He wrote his 96 page history and had it printed in Tours, France in 1919. Probably a limited number, as none show up on the net other than reprints. The title page is hand colored, with a hand written ink poem entitled in Flanders Fields. The book is a concise record of his unit, much of what was written is from personal experience.

When I purchase this book many years ago, it was part of Edley Graighill and his son’s military items.  Edley the father not only served in the 317th Infantry in WWI, but was a WWII “retread” and was in the 29th InfantryDivision.  His son Jr. was kill shortly after he jumped into Normandy with the 101st.   Edley the father would command the 101st in the 50’s.

The book is bound in dark blue leather wraps with gilt embossed cover which is showing with wear along the edges. Pages are toned some, but all tight and a usable copy. Although the book is not signed, it was from the Graighill Estate.
