This is an inscribed presentation which reads, ” Fordeip Brigham, with the best wishes of Geo.S. Boutwell, April 30, 1882.  this may be a book from Boutwell’s library do to the date.

Condition is very good, showing light wear with only some rubbing on covers in a few places and some fading on the spine. A tight and clean copy.

George Sewall Boutwell (1818-1905) was an American politician, lawyer and statesman.  He was from Massachusetts. Boutwell served as the first Commissioner of the Internal Revenue under President Abraham Lincoln, Sec. of the Treasury under President U.S. Grant, 20th Governor of Massachusetts, and was a leader in the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, and so much more about this man’s career.
