Including this 2nd Infantry officer’s shoulder straps.
In 1880 the dress uniform color for infantry changed from the old sky blue to white.
The shoulder straps show wear, with some loss of bullion on one corner, and loose twisted wire border. The bullion on these shows use and toning with age and use, as fatigue uniforms will usually show far more wear than dress uniforms and insignia. The straps are leather backed, and have brass staples type devices for easy attachment to the uniform. There is a whitish residue on the leather backing that I have not attempted to remove but one small area and it came off with relative ease. The white wool shows some discoloration from wear and use.
No history with these, as they came in a small collection on infantry officers uniform insignia now listed elsewhere on site.
A nice set needing some light TLC.
