Description
Jonathan Dole of Newbury, Massachusetts, a Private in Capt. Moses Nowell’s Co. that marched on the Alarm of April 19, 1775, to Lexington and Concord, our First day in the Fight for Independence. Jonathan Dole signs this document as the owner of half an acre of land lying in Newbury.
The document is in very good condition with some aging and staining overall, Chipping to the upper right corner and bottom of page. The deed is dated the 21 day of September, Anno Domini 1747. There is a watermark of the British Coat of Arms with the unicorn and the lion.
Answering the Alarm of April 19th, was the first and last service for Jonathan Dole; 4 day total. Figuring by the date of the deed, Dole had to be at the very least in his early 50’s. This age would probably keep him from pursuing any further service.
