Seating Chart For Officers & Dignitaries Aboard HMS Hood – Her Visit To San Francisco 1924. H.M.S. Hood, while part of the British Navy’s Special Service Squadron’s 1924 Cruise circumnavigating around the world. The chart is dated July 10, 1924, and shows the position of guests who came aboard at that time, including British, American naval officers, USMC & Army officers, and the Mayor of San Francisco.

Size 6.5 x 8 inches, and was folded and pinned to another document originally (it came loose with other papers).  From the archive of Rear Admiral Simpson, USN.

H.M.S. Hood was commissioned in 1920, a battle cruiser, and the largest warship in the world for 20 years after her launching. Known and the “Mighty Hood,” she was sunk in the famous sea battle against the German Battleship Bismarck on May 24, 1941.
