USS MONTGOMERY (C-9 or DD-121) – Cap Tally.

The USS Montgomery C-9, was the lead ship in her class, commissioned in 1894, at Baltimore, Md. Assigned to the North Atlantic Squadron, she helped blockade Cuba, taking two prizes and shelling coastal forts. After 1908, she was used as a Torpedo Experiment ship. Decommissioned in 1918.

DD-121, was commissioned in 1918, at Newport News, Va., and made her first anti-submarine patrol, and coastal duties shortly after. Montgomery joined the Pacific Fleet in 1922, and began the decommissioning process at San Diego.

The black silk tally is 37 x 1.5 inches, and the gilt lettering is weak, with traces of gilt coming up through a bluish hue.

Very good condition overall.
