Description
Any 1872 enlisted dress coat from the Indian Wars period are getting extremely hard to find, and many found have been modified to conform to later regulations.
This coat came through and has Philadelphia Depot markings on the inside linen lining; stamped in a light blue color. The coat is piped in red naturally, and is made for foot artillery. It still retains the original belt loops, piped in red. All of the original general service buttons are still present, none replaced. Only one original “4” remains on the left collar.
The blue wool coat’s stitching is in sound condition, no openings. There is moth tracking on the chest area and in sporadic areas overall, but nothing too distracting. There is mothing on the cuffs and shoulder tabs, and collar facings, and a few small holes were conserved. Some of the piping around the rear of the neck, and along the front needed restoration as well.
This is a small size, but overall a collector grade coat.
