Massachusetts Minuteman, April 19, 1775, Newburyport, MA – Joseph Somerby document
Joseph Somerby of Newburyport, Massachusetts was a Private in Capt. Moses Nowell’s Co. of Minutemen that marched on the Alarm of April 19, 1775 to Lexington and Concord, the First day of our War for Independence.
Somerby signs this 1799 land survey that at one time accompanied a deed relating to this land, sold by Capt. Moody Davis to Elias Jackman. The map show that Jackman was already an abutter. The plan is entirely in Somerby’s hand.
The document is in fine plus condition, with only slight separations in the folds, certainly extremely minimal at best. This is a watermark bearing the seal of the British Liberty seated and holding the British Shield, all in a oval surmounted by a crown.
