Description

This 1902 Officer’s sword made at Springfield Armory, Springfield, Mass, was made for one year only with this scarce blade etching (1903-1904).  The left side of the blade has the armory etching at the end of the blade fuller, panoply of arms, florals and “U.S.” in English lettering.  The other side of the blade is similar with the full spread winged eagle,  Finish on the blade is excellent; condition of the blade is fine to excellent, with some light scratching, Would rate it being about 90%.

The German silver scabbard and hilt are in fine condition as well with light wear, some age patina gathered in protected areas.  A few minor blemishes on the scabbard,  All scabbard made prior to 1904 had these features only. The grips are made of horn and show light use.

Armory production records indicate that 5735 swords were made from 1902 to 1918.  I would think that product in the start up year would make this sword rather scarce.
