Description
Longley & Co – Lewiston, Maine -Cap Box & Waist Belt Dated 1863.
A nice accoutrement set, of waist belt and cap box, made by Longley & Co., Lewiston, Me., and both pieces dated 1863. The belt is finished with atypical bordered edges, and still has the original brass keeper. The buckle is not marked. There is a tear to one section cut to affix the arrow of the buckle. An easy fix.
The cap box flap is treated the same way as the belt. No wool fleece remaining inside the box.
Typical crackling of leather, but supple, but has a pleasing “been there” look.
