Description
CDV – Colonel Henry Patchen Martin 71st New York Regiment -The American Guard.
Martin was Lt.Col of the 71st New York regiment at the beginning of the war, and soon became the colonel for a 3 month period from May 28, to September 2, 1862. His commission to colonel came in June of 1861.
The image by C.D. Fredericks & Co., New York, show Martin as colonel, with his sword and cap in hand.
