Description

Civil War Tinted Albumen Of A Pennsylvania Militiaman.

This young Pennsylvania Militia private is wearing a gray 4 button coat with shoulder tabs, and trousers, along with a forage cap of the same color. I can’t make out the insignia on the cap, but likely a company letter or regimental numeral. His accoutrements consist of waist belt with two-piece state buckle, bayonet and scabbard, cap box, and a cartridge box.

The collector from whom this image was purchased placed the paper on the back, and in keeping with other items of a similar nature, would have written any information on the back, had there been any to record.

The tinting is nicely done for the image of a young soldier completely relaxed posing for this photograph.

A period oval frame shows some wear, but very good; the original mat with gold accents leaves a viewing size of 6 x 8 inches in the oval.
