Description
CDV- Colonel George Ranney Myers – 18th New York Infantry.
Colonel Myers entered service as a major in the 18th New York Infantry on May 14th, 1861. He mustered out on May 28th, 1863 at Albany, and this may have been the time he had this image taken by S.J. Thompson & Co., Albany. During his service in the 18th regiment, he took part in the battles of Bull Run, Gaines Mills, Crampton Gap., Antietam, and Fredericksburg, and had risen to the rank of colonel by that time. Myers would receive a brevet commission as brigadier general of Volunteers in March of 1865.
The image has a crease through the center, which is slightly visible on the front.
Overall very good.
