Model 1861 Cartridge Box for a .69 Caliber Rifled Musket

Model 1861 Cartridge Box for a .69 Caliber Rifled Musket. Unmarked box with it’s original sling, having initials of (presumably) the soldier it was issued to which are “J W” located on the sling near the crossover section of slings on the back of the box.  All tight stitching and pliable leather.  Some insect tracking in a few little areas on the top of inner flap.  The sling appears to be a russet colored pig skin, with blacked front side. Lacking, but cut for the 1828 eagle breast plate. The oval plate is fine and held in place with original leather thong.

One of the best untouched boxes we’ve had in a long time.
