CDV- Captain Ashbel F. Duncan, 14th Pennsylvania Cavalry – Wounded at Winchester, Va. 1864.  I had offered this as a possible Iowa or Missouri cavalry officer, but this image has been identified, by an addition cdv offered from a friend and fellow collector.

Duncan enlisted in November of 1862, as a captain into Company “E” of the `4th PA. Cavalry.  He died from his wounds received at the battle of Winchester, Virginia, on Sept. 19, 1864.

The exact connection of this Iowa photographer, G.G. Johnson, from Dubuque, has not come to light.
