Civil War Artillery Officer’s Sword Belt & ’51 Belt Plate. Worn by foot artillery (not light artillery) non commissioned officers who carried the Model 1832 Ames Artillery Short Sword. The belt is made of black bridle leather and has a 1851 belt plate having most of the original gilt finish, with matching bench marked keeper, a three piece silver wreath.
The leather is lightly crazed overall, with stitching strong. The belt has both leather slides. No visible markings on belt.
A nice untouched rig.
