1855 Bayonet With Scabbard – Early War Pattern

1855 Bayonet With Scabbard.  A “U S” marked bayonet for Springfield and contract muskets.  Standard lengths, and complete with locking rings. The bayonet has a light plum brown patina, and came with this early two rivet scabbard.  The frog has been reenforced with small tacks that penetrate the scabbard on both sides (2 tacks each) and one small tack on the back side. These were most likely added by an individual, etc., not the maker.  The brass tip or drag has an odd shaped finial; longer and less defined as most seen.  It is maker marked but can’t determine who at this point.
