War of 1812 Musician Coatee of the 2nd U.S. Infantry- 1808-1810 Pattern. Will be at the up-coming Maryland Arms show in mid March.
The 1st and 2nd U.S. Infantry regiments were the only two units that did not receive the new 1813 pattern uniforms. This being a musicians coat, the colors are reversed from the blue faced red infantryman’s pattern; this one using gilt piping. The shako is a late pattern militia type, with two bullet sized buttons on each side of the body, and the original stock pattern plate is likely on the earliest usages of what has been called the C-1820s stock pattern. This is the original plate for this particular shako.
I purchased the coatee and shako at the same time but am selling separately. Two great early pieces.
Coatee is $6500.00
Shako is $6000.00
Total for Both = $12,500.00
