Model 1819 Hall Flintlock Rifle, manufactured at Harper’s Ferry Arsenal. This rifle was made in the 2nd production and dated on the breech 1831. The .52 caliber barrel is 32 5/8 inches, and with an overall length of 52 3/4 inches; loaded from the pop-up breech. Breech block is case hardened (oil quenched) with a dark finish.
Marking are found on the front of the breech, “J.H. HALL / H. FERRY / US /1831.” Both sights are offset to the left due to the hammer and frizzen being in the way. The front sight also acts as the bayonet stud. Barrel is finished in the brown, as well other iron parts (trigger guard and spur plate appear never to have been browned). The ramrod is finished in the bright.
The black walnut stock shows little heavy dings, chips or dents, but overall exhibits just minor of the same. Mechanics are excellent.
Overall a fine + Hall.
The rifle has a bayonet listed elsewhere.
