Calf covers, 12 plates, 6 are fold out (plate 7 is missing), 232 pages with additional Index.

Front fly leaf inscribed, ” Boston August 16, 1792.”  Following page, “Colonel Smith, Springfield Mass.”  First book printed in the United States with a dedication to General George Washington.

Some separating at the spine, worn corners and general wear to boards. Some soiling, but tight throughout.

I have not found any information on Colonel Smith.

A Rare and desirable Rev War manual , and pre-dates Von Steuben’s manual by a few years.
