Description

An improvement on the ’76 pattern, this belt had equipment rings added to allow the hanging of equipment such as standard socket bayonet with new scabbard for this belt, a trowel bayonet with similar hook hanger, etc., other than the added rings, it is the same belt.

The belt is in very good condition with soiling and wear overall, mostly soiling giving the belt a great look. The leather is crazed, some dryness, chipping.  The tongue is marked “Watervliet Arsenal” and inspection mark, “A.R. Smith.”  There are some initials and name on the inside of the belt, “G.W.W.,”  and “F. Bomford, C Company……June 17, 81.”

Made with 54 loops, in .45 caliber ammunition.

Nice belt and worthy of research on the name.
