Model 1874 Clothing Bag, Pattern 3 for Recruits.

Model 1874 Clothing Bag, Pattern 3 for Recruits. Made of natural color cotton duck and marked “recruit” by the quartermasters for issue to new recruits at the depots, to use to carry their belongings to their new posting. Made at Rock Island Arsenal.  Stenciled US on the flap with the recruit marking beneath it.  On the back of the bag, is the name of the  recruit, “O’Neil.

Missing only the strap for the meat can, and a repaired tear on cover done in the period of use.

Some spotting and soiling and overall in very good condition.
