Description
This 15th AAF bullion patch is a-typical construction for those made in Italy during WWII. The patch appears to be fully machine made, originally as a headquarters type. the over the existing design, bullion work (in different colors of bullion) was applied, and with the addition of a bullion “15.” A woven bullion border was sewn down with white thread in the center.
The patch was found with other patches in the left lower pocket of 41 service dress coat belonging to 1st Lieutenant Walton Perry, Jr, 319th BG, 438th BS., who flew 57 missions during the war. His grouping is coming up on site soon,
2.5″ diameter.
