1863 Extra Duty Pay & Supplies For A Private -4th Kentucky Volunteers.
James Fillers made his mark on the document made out in his name for 70 days extra pay and supplies (mount “cavalry” trousers & a regulation hat and shirt) for apparently detailed as a mounted dispatch rider for his regiment, the 4th Kentucky Infantry. Dated “In the Field” 15 July, 1863. Also signed by 1st Lieutenant D.B. Loomis, 2nd Minnesota Vols, as acting asst. QM for the 1st Division of the Army of the Ohio.
The document was signed a few months prior to the Battle of Chickamauga, Ga.
