1872 Pattern Staff Officers Chapeau- Boxed.
Made by H.V. Allien, New York, this chapeau is contained in its original tin case. The white silk lining has the gold embossed H.V. Allien name and address. The cockade eagle used in the gilt brass enlisted pattern shako eagle, but 100 % correct for this hat. The button is a general staff button.
The chapeau has been worn, and has no name associated with it. It has general light wear along the lower edges. The ostrich feathers are fine. There is the original water-proof rain cover is below the hat in the tin case.
The case shows a good amount of wear, dings, rust, etc., and has the Allien brass tag attached above the latch on the lid. The latch loop is missing.
Very good- fine condition.
