The bayonet retains most of the original blue finish, and the scabbard is decent as well.

Description
1873 Springfield Rifle Bayonet with 1885 Scabbard. do shipping
This is a standard 1873 “Trapdoor” bayonet, that remained unchanged through the usage with the service rifle going into the early 20th Century for some state units.
18 inch blued blade, marked US.
Scabbard metal blued, with applied leather frog, unmarked. The brass hook – model of 1885 was developed for use on garrison belt, and well as web belt for field use. There are some spots of surface rust, and would clean up some.
Overall a very respectable example to go with that Model 1884 rifle.
