Description
1882 Hospital Steward’s Forage Cap Insignia.
Worn by all enlisted medical staff from 1882 to 1887. Made with a brass wreath and silver caduceus applied on a black wool backed with thin cardboard oval plate that was finish with a brown paper, now showing a good deal of wear.
All complete, and a scarcer type following the wreath and “US.”
2.5 inches wide.
