1885 Cavalry Enlisted Dress Coat. A privates coat with the new gold bullion service strip. Golden yellow facings and piping throughout. All of the buttons are original to the coat, buttons made by Waterbury Button Co. No markings on the lining or in the shoulder areas of the sleeves. Would guess this is a smaller size. Definitely a federal pattern coat, as the small cuff buttons are placed at the points on the lower sleeve facings, and the service stripe indicated five to nine years.
There are a few tiny moth holes that you have to go looking for to find them. An area around one of the upper buttons was repaired due to moths, and area about a inch long, located behind the button, and just a hint of yellow piping nipped, but again, hard to notice.
A nice coat! The 1885 cavalry saber belt is not included, but is being offered separately.
